KPATC volunteers honored an exemplary 911 professional, Amanda Richmond, at Bloomington Communications Center in Bloomington, IL with a KPATC challenge coin on March 27, 2022. Her supervisor, Darren Wolf, nominated Amanda following 3 difficult calls she took which she handled with precise navigation of protocols providing calm and clear instructions to save three lives. The first caller was contemplating ending their life. Amanda deescalated the situation perfectly which led to a safe resolution of a dangerous situation. During the second call, Amanda helped bring a life into the world by guiding the caller through the delivery prior to EMS arrival at the scene. The third caller found a small child unresponsive in a pool. Amanda again rose to the occasion and provided life-saving CPR instructions until EMS arrived. We were so proud to meet and thank Amanda personally for always “Being Her Best Self Every Day”. And thank you to Darren Wolf who provides supportive leadership for the telecommunicators at this center.
