We were proud to honor two exemplary 911 professionals from Ada County Sheriff’s office in Meridian, Idaho on June 6. Ashley Bones instructed a caller on how to administer CPR to a man suffering a heart attack – he was not breathing and unconscious. Ashlie Olsen saw the Code Blue come through on her law enforcement dispatch channel and dispatched a Meridian police officer who was very close to the medical emergency and she knew all Meridian officers have AED units in their vehicles (this was not in their department policy or protocols). The officer who arrived on the scene was able to take over CPR and utilize the AED within 4 minutes of the call coming in. Quoting an EMS supervisor, “this is one of these cases where timing was everything and it worked out perfectly for this patient.”

Had it not been for the heroic actions and out-of-the box thinking of these two dispatchers, this call would have turned out very differently. Thank you Ashley and Ashlie for your team work and for “Answering The Call To Be Your Best Selves Every Day.”
